Product review: Blastflipsticks!

Thanks to Bzz agent I was recently sent Covergirls new blastflipsticks lipsticks to try. I really love them! They have super pigmented colors and have long staying power! I was sent the colors vixen, minx, and stunner! Stunner is my absolute favorite.

Left to right: Minx, Vixen, and Stunner! Stunner is much brighter then the swatch shows! (its a bright orangy, pinky, red. lol if that makes sense!)

The unique thing about these lipsticks is there are two coordinating colors in one tube. You can use each one separate or blend them for a custom perfect color. I love to put on the darker color then add the lighter one to the middle of my lips!

Here I am with the color Vixen!
Thank you Bzz agent for letting me try really cool products for free. I love this one!

Sausage!!!!

We decided this year to try to make our own sausage and meat sticks from our wild game! Wow a little ambitious but we know lots of people who do and thought "Why not give it a whirl!" Tyler got a doe opening weekend and we got busy!

First thing first...trimming up all of the meat!
You want all of the silver skin, tendons, and blood clots out!

Remember to keep your meat super cold! It is so much easier to work with!

Next grinding.. We only have a hand grinder. I don't recommend this if you have a lot of meat, but it's what we have so we worked with it!

The big problem was if the meat warmed up it would gum up in the grinder!
If we had an electric grinder we could have worked much faster but we had to keep popping it in the freezer!

Wild game is so lean that you mix in pork fat to make good sausage. We did about 80/20-90/10. You can get the fat at any butcher or if you know in advance most grocery stores will save it for you.
Hunter taking a cake batter break with Grammy! HaHa he cracks me up!
You first use the coarse grind plate to grind everything. Then you season the meat and add the cure if you are smoking any of it. We used a kit that we bought at the sports store, Some grocery stores carry them also!
Most even come with casings for stuffing your sausage!
Then regrind the meat with the fine plate.
Last add on the stuffing attachment and start filling your casings.
We made pepperoni  sticks, smoked polish, and bulk breakfast sausage.
SORRY I'm so bad I forgot to keep taking pictures! HaHa I'm still getting used to blogging!
It was actually so much fun! My husband and I spent the whole day together laughing! My favorite was the breakfast sausage and I wish we would have made much more. The kids love the pepperoni sticks, and we didn't do such a great job on the polish because we messed up the smoking a little. All in all it was a great experience and with a little more practice I think we will get it down!! I really look forward to doing it again and hope my boys have some more luck this hunting season.

Babies!! More like 1 very special Baby!

Since having my son 4 1/2 years ago I have never one time had the urge to have another baby. I LOVE being a Mom more then anything but I just felt happy with the two kids that I have. WELL that all changed yesterday when I met my oh-so beautiful new little cousin. I don't know what it is about her because I have held lots and lots of babies over the last few years, some of them super special and I love them to pieces but not one single "oh my gosh I want another baby" feeling ever came over me. Until that precious little Adley stole a little piece of my heart!

Hunter really loved her! See his little hand!

I left Ivy and Nate's last night totaly questioning my decision to be done having babies. WHAT I never expected that! I think it's because she is so tiny and perfect and brand new! Don't get all excited I'm not going to try to have a baby right now because I still have to think of my dreams. I really want to go to school in the fall and I know I wouldn't if I had a baby. But for the first time in 4 1/2 years it is on my mind.
I love her so much already and can't wait to watch her grow! Welcome to our family little Adley, We love you!
Steve has wanted another Baby all along! She isn't helping, HaHaHaHa!!!!

Contouring!

Since I told you all that I love makeup I figured a makeup tutorial is in store. Contouring is very useful when your going to be photographed a lot. Weddings, dances, special occasions...not necessarily for everyday unless you want to have fun and look like you have AMAZING cheekbones!
Sorry my pictures are not very good. I don't have good lighting in my bathroom and only a basic camera but I think you will be able to get the idea

First moisturize and prime your face.
Then take a cream foundation or concealer much lighter then your skin tone and place it on your "high points" of your face.
Apply with a concealer brush  or small foundation brush.
I use Real Techniques pointed foundation brush.
Center of your forehead, down center of your nose, on cheekbones, under your eye,
under your cheek hollow, on your cupids bow, and your chin.
I use Hard Candy Glamoflauge concealer in light.

Then using same brush take a cream much darker then your skin and apply to your "low points"
In your cheek hollow, jaw line, sides of the nose, temple, and forehead.
I use Revlon Photo Ready concealer in Deep 006.
Then take your favorite cream foundation in your shade and a stippling or buffing brush and
Pat or stipple your foundation over everything.
I use Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse in
creamy natural light 5 and a Real Techniques buffing brush. Go over your whole face in a patting motion until your whole face is covered and well blended. You wont look crazy! Just like you have awesome dimensions and great structure!
Don't forget to set everything with powder. My favorite is Elf High Definition Powder.
Then finish up your look with the rest of your makeup!
I told you my lighting is so bad! My face and chest look like different colors in this picture but in real life they are not.
A little better but not much. But you can see the angles a little better in this picture.
This is similar to how Kim Kardashian has her face makeup done.
I hope this helps you get those perfect pictures! Contouring is great because your face is not flat and looks much better with shadows, if you put just one color on it flattens it out.

New Chapter

Things in our life are a little scary right now, but at the same time super exciting! My husband decided to quit his job yesterday. He has worked at Perkins for the last 6 years and although it has been very good to us he never loved (or even liked for that matter) cooking. He never saw himself working in a kitchen but he needed a job and it turned out he was pretty good at it. He moved up quickly and was managing in the kitchen for most of his time there. There are a lot of people there that mean a lot to us and believed in him when so many people didn't. We will forever be grateful to those people and I believe will always be great friends.
So......
Recently Steve was approached by are best friend to come work with him selling cars, at that time it was a fairly simple decision. But.... nothing can ever be easy! So the manager above him announced he was quitting.  Well that makes things more difficult! The choice now is to keep the guaranteed nice paying salary job that he hates, (but could keep doing it) or.... Take a big chance and go to a commission job with so much promise that he will be much happier at.  Huge decision!!
Well obviously we decided to take the chance with some guidance from our best friends and Steve's new boss. I'm super excited for this new chapter in our life and think it will be good for us! I am also so grateful for Dan at Perkins for being so understanding and a true friend to us when we really needed him. He could have been selfish and tried to keep Steve there, but he wants us to be happy and do what we believe is right for our family. Thank you for believing in Steve all along and giving him a chance! I know we will always be friends!
So here's to our new exciting chapter of our lives with super good friends. I'm nervous but believe things are all going to work out and better things are in store for our family!

Can't Live without....

Today I'm going to let all of you know about a beauty item I absolutely can't live without. I may be a little biased because my best friend makes i,t but honestly I wouldn't use it if I didn't believe in it. So here it is...

Activated Charcoal Goats milk soup. I love this stuff!!! The charcoal pulls out impurities in your skin while the goats milk is super hydrating!  She raises her own goats so she knows exactly what they are eating. No hormones! Because seriously who wants that on there face!  Check out her etsy page!

She makes all different kinds! Liquid and bars, in all different scents. I hope you all check it out. Believe me you will LOVE her soap!

Cookies and Firefighters!

The other day my 4 year old son, Hunter wanted to bake cookies and take them to the firehouse. (we only live about 2 blocks from it) I'm not sure where he got the idea but how could I say no to something like this? So I looked in the pantry to see what we had, we decided on pumpkin cookies. But not just plain pumpkin cookies, jazzed up pumpkin cookies. To half the dough we added chocolate chips and the other half we got super fancy, LOL not really, but we added raisins, oatmeal, and pecans. They were both super good! Then we got out our craft stuff and Hunter made them a special card.

Here he is with his special masterpiece!
He just makes my heart melt and is so special.

Then I carried the cookies because he wanted to ride his bike. When we got there he knocked on the door and waited. When the firemen answered the door they were super happy to see their surprise! They let Hunter play on all of the equipment, answered all of his questions, (there were a lot of them) and even let him put on their coat! They were awesome!

In doing something nice for someone else Hunter got way more in return. Encourage you're kids to do things with their heart so they can learn how rewarding it is. It will become second nature to them.
